Inspired by the geometric structures of Iranian architecture, such as multifaceted domes, this work creates a form that remains firmly grounded on the earth while simultaneously opening toward the sky.
The polygonal opening structure at the center recalls architectural elements that guide light from the roof into interior spaces, such as dome apertures and latticed windows.
The work offers a fresh interpretation of the way light enters spaces in traditional architecture through a sense of veiling and modesty.
The use of wood, matte colored surfaces, and soft light reinforces this concept and gives the work a mystical quality.
A fissure within the form facilitates upward movement, establishes a fluid connection between exterior and interior, and creates ambiguity as to whether the light enters from above or emanates from within.
At the same time, the work resembles a sculptural figure whose imposing stability appears to radiate an inner light outward.
