Architecture
lives on,
through material.
Salomeh Studio is a platform where architecture extends into the realm of materiality,
and design takes shape through handcrafted wooden works, using the interplay of light
and shadow to create narratives.
The studio emerged from a personal desire to create tangible, handcrafted works that
could be brought to life in a shorter timeframe than conventional architectural projects.
This search for a more direct relationship with material led me into carpentry workshops,
where years of observing texture, light, and detail gradually became a process of
making.
At the same time, through my professional experience in interior architecture and
furniture design, I became increasingly aware of the absence of products that genuinely
embodied the logic and spirit of Iranian architecture.
To pursue this path independently, I established the Salomeh Studio carpentry
workshop—a space where material and idea meet at a human scale, while design and
fabrication develop simultaneously.
The studio’s works emerge from a distinct cultural perspective. Their concepts, forms,
materials, and details reflect a contemporary engagement with the underlying values of
Iranian architecture, without reproducing clichés or resorting to imported forms devoid of
authenticity. At the same time, they respond to the aesthetic and functional needs of
contemporary life.
Throughout this process, the continuous observation of the relationship between
material, light, space, and the human being plays a central role. The aim is to create an
experience beyond the object itself.
Ultimately, concepts infused with imagination, mystery, and complexity take shape in
these works. Through a language of ambiguity, the objects create narratives and
acquire a distinctly sculptural quality.
Salomeh Studio marks the beginning of a long-term journey; a continued exploration of
works based on this design approach, extending the spatial qualities of Iranian
architecture beyond the boundaries of the building and into everyday life and the human
scale.
